The ‘Smethport 50’ Kicks Off the Summer at the NDRL’s McKean County Raceway!

East Smethport, PA (May 29, 2013) The largest event to date at the NDRL’s McKean County Raceway will take place this Friday night, May 31. The “Smethport 50” for the NDRL’s ULMS Late Model Series that will see the winner cash in a huge $7,500 grand prize. A complete program for the weekly divisions of RUSH Crate Late Models, Emods, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks is also on the card.

The NDRL ULMS Late Models series will invade MCR for the second time of the year as Bristolville, Ohio’s Russ King will lead the entire ULMS contingent of Dave Hess Jr., Mike Knight, Boom Briggs, Greg Oakes, and Matt Urban against the MCR faithful of Ron Davies, Jason Dupont and Bob Close. Fans will get a chance to see several outsiders rolling into MCR for the $32,000 payoff. Georgia’s Shane Clanton and Clint Smith, New York’s Tim Fuller and Billy Decker, Mississippi’s Bub McCool as well as Pennsylvania’s own Chub Frank, Keith Barbara, and Coleby Frye will also be on hand giving the fans a rare chance to see some of the top stars of the country do battle at McKean County Raceway.

The RUSH Crate Late Models will be in weekly action as Max Blair has won all the events at MCR showing his competitors why he is the national champion. Blair is coming off another big victory in West Virginia last weekend and no doubt will be looking for his fourth win of the season. He will have to be ready for the stiff challenges of the father and son duo of Ed and Zack Carley along with Damien Bidwell, Bob Kish, Justin Tatlow, Chad Ruhlman and Ward Schell in the famous Ron Baker #74 machine.

Ron Davies is beginning to like his Emod after winning two out of the first three nights at MCR. Davies is the current point leader over Randy Hall who has suffered two power plant failures over the past few weeks. Davies needs to not rest on his laurels as his son Dan along with Vic Vena, Steve Dixon, Brent Rhebergen, Travis Asel, Carl McKinney and John Woodward are already to knock the “RimRider” off the top pedestal this week.
Adam Ashcroft has been the car to beat with his 604 crate motor in the Close Racing Supply Street Stock class. Don Wolfer, Brad Ullman, Andy Michael all have been contenders and will be looking to knock Ashcroft off the top spot this week as will Larry Mitchell’s competitors in the mini stock division. Mitchell has won all three events at MCR so far this.

Race time is 730PM Friday night with a mandatory ULMS driver meeting at 6:45PM and time trials at 7:10 PM for the ULMS Late Models. All NDRL ULMS Late Model teams are reminded that beginning this Friday night that the yellow Westhold transponders will be mandatory and they can be bought or rented at the track. The new electronic scoring will also be used for the crate late model and emod divisions weekly. Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, with Senior Citizen tickets being charged at $15 and children 12 and under admitted free. Pit passes are $35 and all fans and race teams who purchased tickets for last Thursday’s rain out event will have their tickets honored for this event.
