PITTSBURGH, PA — Get ready for some hot July racing action as Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway presents the Diehl of Robinson PENNational this Saturday, July 13th. The three division event will showcase the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Model competitors battling the ULMS Late Model invaders in a 30 lap main event paying $3,000.00 to win. The UEMS E-Mod Series will make their first visit of the season and the Sweeney RUSH Pro-Late Model Speedweek Finale will complete the evening’s racing action.
“The weather for Saturday is looking great and we are extremely excited about the 2013 PENNational,” stated Speedway Owner Matt Miley. “The ULMS competitors from northern PA, Ohio and New York will definitely provide the PPMS regulars with some staunch competition. And when you add the UEMS and RUSH Series’ to the racing card this is definitely one show that area race fans will want to attend.”

PPMS regular Davey Johnson scored a ULMS victory in April when the Series visited the Sharon Speedway and will be one of the favorites to turn back the challenges of the ULMS invaders this weekend. Current divisional points leader Michael Norris was victorious a few weeks ago as he dominated the Herb Scott Memorial and the Sarver, PA driver is also expected to contend for this week’s top prize. Other weekly competitors who will challenge for the win include last week’s feature winner Jared Miley, Brandon Burgoon, Alex Ferree, Keith Barbara, Jim Stephans, Daryl Charlier and Steve Baker.

The ULMS contingent will be led to “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile” by their current points leader Mike Knight. Knight has two ULMS victories thus far as he scored wins at the Sharon Speedway and McKean County Speedway in June. In addition, former WoO Rookie of the Year Russell King is currently second in the ULMS standings. King has yet to score a victory in ULMS action but he did score a win several weeks ago in the Uncle Sam 30 at Lernerville Speedway as part of the Firecracker event. Other ULMS drivers expected to compete this weekend include Ron Davies, Boom Briggs and Matt Urban.

The UEMS E-Mods will make their first of two scheduled appearances at PPMS this weekend. Current Series’ points leader Steve Dixon will certainly be looking to get his first ever victory at the Imperial, PA oval. Vic Vena, Randy Hall, Brett Rhebergen and Joel Watson round out the top five in the UEMS points and will also be looking to claim the $1,000 top prize. Other E-Mod competitors who will be vying for the win include Jonathan and Evan Taylor, Carl McKinney, J.E. Stalder, Bruce Takach and Deana Groves.

The third Series in action this week with be the Sweeney RUSH Pro-Late Models, who will be competing in their Speedweek finale. PPMS competitors Kyle and Laura Lukon, Tommy Schirnhofer, Colton Flinner, Justin Lamb and Ron Hall will be looking to defeat Series’ regulars Rick Singleton, Mike Pegher, Jr., Ryan Montgomery and Joe Martin and a host of other competitors and pick up the $1,200.00 first place prize check.

The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for this this week’s racing action open at 5:00PM with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM.

Adult Grandstand Admission is $20.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $19.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $15.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise.

Pit Admission for this week’s event is $35.00.

Race teams are advised that the following entry fees will be assessed by the sanctioning bodies this Saturday: ULMS $50.00, UEMS $25.00 and RUSH $50.00.

In addition, Raceivers and AMB transponders (Red) are required.

Don’t forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of amusement park munchies like monster chicken wings, grilled chicken sandwiches and cotton candy at “fan friendly prices.”
