FOREST, Ohio (May 17, 2021) – Facing-off against stellar car counts that included a few of USAC’s finest, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports put together an impressive stat sheet during BOSS Series action at Gas City I-69 Speedway and Lawrenceburg Speedway over the weekend, not only accumulating a pair of top-ten finishes, but kicking-off the weekend with a top-five at Gas City on Friday, May 14.
Success at Gas City, even among 44 entries, should be no surprise to Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports fans, as the Forest, Ohio-based team has been victorious at the venue twice over the last two seasons.
After finishing fifth at the Gas City quarter-mile, Westfall, driver of the Ray Marshall-owned, Ray Marshall Motorsports, Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, finished eighth at Lawrenceburg, maintaining the spot after starting in the exact same position.
“That wasn’t a bad weekend considering the company we were with. It’s easy to put yourself in a hole during big shows like that, but we maintained consistency and put together two solid nights,” Matt Westfall said. “This team has the potential to be competitive anywhere we go. We owe that all to Ray and his dedication. We wouldn’t be in this position without him.”
Tentatively, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2021 campaign with a USAC National Sprint Cars doubleheader at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, on Friday and Saturday, May 21-22. Westfall will enter Lakeside 11th in the championship standings, a mere 81 markers outside of the top-ten.
The “Bumblee Express” will head to Kansas with one victory on the season; the production of a charge from 13th at Kokomo on April 9.
