FOREST, Ohio (May 3, 2021) – Despite starting no better than 17th during his two-day visit to Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports did their best to persevere, advancing a grand total of 14 positions in two days and earning one top-ten finish in the process.

Westfall, driver of the Ray Marshall-owned/Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, finished 12th and tenth, respectively, during Kokomo’s Grand Prix weekend, starting Friday’s main event from 19th on the grid and Saturday’s feature program from 17th.

Although starting at the front of the field is the ultimate goal, Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports have been on a passing binge in 2021. In fact, Westfall’s first win of the season was the result of row seven, eventually climbing 12 spots from 13th to secure his place on Kokomo’s victory late platform.

“It’s all about putting an entire evening together,” Matt Westfall said, the 2019 Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) champion. “It’s fun to pass cars, but we’d rather start a little closer to the front and contend for some wins. Regardless, it’s hard not to be proud of this team. We’ve had to dig ourselves out of some holes this year, but we’ve proven over and over again that we can do that. We’ll see what next week brings.”

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2021 agenda with a two-day stay at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track – Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio – on Friday and Saturday, May 7-8. The “Bumblebee Express” will join the USAC National Sprint Cars at The Big E, set to battle for a pair of $10,000 top prizes.

For those who can not attend, FloRacing will be on hand to broadcast the entire event. Visit www.floracing.com to learn more.
