FOREST, Ohio (October 11, 2021) – Although the two-day blockbuster was ultimately cut to one, losing Friday’s opener to an unexpected visit from Mother Nature, Roll the Dice weekend at I-96 Speedway went on as planned welcoming the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) and Great Lakes Traditional Sprints (GLTS) for a full out brawl on Saturday, October 9. Westfall, pilot for Ray Marshall Motorsports and current BOSS Series point leader, participated in the highly-touted event and finished on the podium, just shy of his second BOSS victory of 2021.
Westfall, driver of the Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/”Bumblebee Express” No. 33M sprint car, finished second in the Roll the Dice finale, leading much of the main event before losing the top spot to eventual winner, Max Adams.
A threat the entire evening, Westfall kicked-off the program with the seventh-fastest time during qualifying time trials, next transferring through his respective heat race to line up second on the feature grid.
“It feels good to be on the podium again. I think we were good enough to win…we just came up a little short,” Westfall said, who will work to clinch a second BOSS title in three seasons. “ I can’t thank Ray Marshall and the entire team enough for their hard work and support this season. I know we are good enough to compete with the best on any given night and we owe all of that to Ray. We’ll try to end the BOSS season on a high note Saturday at Waynesfield.”
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2021 campaign with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series season finale at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, on Saturday, October 16. The Forest, Ohio-based racing operation will enter Waynesfield with a 79-point advantage over Isaac Chapple in the BOSS title chase.
