FOREST, Ohio (March 29, 2021) – Kicking things off in a big way in the Buckeye State, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports made the short trip to Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, during the recent weekend, joining the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) for their season opener on Saturday, March 27.
Despite a faulty tire creating a slight deficit in the team’s potential, a slow leak being the culprit, Westfall powered on and maintained his place inside the top-ten, eventually finishing seventh at the end of the 30-lap contest. The former BOSS Series champion started tenth on the grid and actually worked his way to fourth before the tire issue occurred.
A third place finish during heat race action secured Westfall’s spot on the “Let’s Go 30” grid.
“I think we were good enough to win, but things happen. We know our potential and all we can do is do what we can to make up for it next weekend,” Matt Westfall said, driver of the Ray Marshall-owned/Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for the opportunity to wheel his car. He loves racing as much as anyone I’ve ever known, so to continue my career aboard the 33M is pretty special.”
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2021 campaign with a trip to Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on Saturday, April 3, set to join the USAC National Sprint Cars for Lawrencesburg’s season opening program.
Although winless thus far in 2021, Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will enter Lawrenceburg’s gates with a combined ten victories to their credit over the last two seasons, six of which accomplished during the 2019 season.
