FOREST, Ohio (January 30, 2024) – The 2024 season may be the last for Forest, Ohio’s Ray Marshall Motorsports, but as tradition suggests, Pleasant Hill, Ohio’s Matt Westfall will be the one to conduct it, set to activate Marshall’s final campaign as car owner with a full USAC National Sprint Cars slate in the Sunshine State.
Westfall, a two-time winner in 2023 with victories occurring at Florence Speedway (BOSS) in Florence, Kentucky, and Texarkana 67 Speedway (USAC) in Texarkana, Arkansas, will get the year rolling with USAC starts at Ocala Speedway, Volusia Speedway Park, and Ocala Speedway, respectively, all of which kicking-off with Ocala’s 15th Annual Winter Dirt Games on Friday and Saturday, February 9-10. USAC action will resume at Volusia on Monday and Tuesday, February 12-13, followed by a return visit to Ocala on Thursday through Saturday, February 15-17.
As mentioned, Westfall will roll into the new year on the coattails of a successful campaign which includes the aforementioned USAC triumph in the Natural State. The red and yellow “Bumblebee Express” was in charge the entire 30-lap distance, stretching its legs to a four-second gap before a late-race caution halted the team’s progress. Despite the momentum shift, Westfall picked up right where he left off, eventually outrunning CJ Leary by 1.6 seconds at the final checkers.
“We really weren’t sure what 2024 was going to bring, but we’re officially back on the road this year and we’re excited to give Ray [Marshall] one last awesome ride as car owner,” Westfall, ace of the Buckeye Machine Fabricators Inc, Hempy Water, DPI Ink, Wix Filters, Rod End Supply, Allstar Performance, No. 33M sprint car, said. “We have some pretty solid momentum on our side, so we’ll roll into Ocala ready to go.”
Ray Marshall and Matt Westfall’s tenure includes a long list of accomplishments, most recently earning victories with USAC, the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS), and the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints (GLTS). The duo also secured multiple titles with the Ohio-based BOSS Series.
“Just so much appreciation for Ray and the entire Ray Marshall Motorsports team,” Westfall added. “His passion and dedication is known throughout the sport and I’m grateful to be a part of it. We’re gonna go out swingin’, that’s for sure.”
