Williams Grove Hosts World Of Outlaws May 17 & 18
Pittman makes his return
5/12/13

Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will host the World of Outlaws sprint cars circuit for the first time this season this coming weekend, Friday May 17 and Saturday May 18.

Racing on both nights gets underway with time trials at 7:30 pm.

Friday’s main event will be 25-laps in distance paying $8,000 to win while Saturday’s feature will be 30-laps of racing for a $12,000 prize.

Daryn Pittman, a native of Owasso, Oklahoma, will lead the traveling band of outlaws into the jaws of the Pennsylvania Posse as the current World of Outlaws point leader.

Pittman currently owns a 130-point lead over the rest of the outlaws field.

But Pittman might not be as much of an outlaw as one would think when he gets into town this weekend.

Until the current season and since 2009, Pittman had called Williams Grove Speedway home on Fridays, racing the Mike Heffner No. 27 currently piloted by Lance Dewease and the now retired Jesse Keen No. 17.

Along the way the likable Midwesterner collected an avid fan following and an even dozen sprint car wins at Williams Grove so that could bode well for him this weekend.

Pittman pilots the No. 9 Kasey Kahne Racing entry on the outlaws tour after being tapped for the spot late last season.

Second in WoO points is Paul McMahan who pilots the Chad Clemens-owned No. 51 sprinter formerly driven by Fred Rahmer regularly at Williams Grove Speedway before strking out on the road this season.

Just who the Posse might pin up as sheriff against the outlaws this spring is debatable.

To date there has been no domination at Williams Grove Speedway or in the region although two drivers seem to be experiencing a rejuvenation of sorts this season in the form of Rahmer and Don Kreitz Jr.

Both drivers have taken wins at the track this season and both men seem to be racing with heightened confidence levels recently.
