FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mechanicsburg –Williams Grove Speedway will open the 23rd annual Pennsylvania Speedweek series for 410 sprint cars this Friday night, June 28 at 7:30 pm.

The show will kick off the annual series that boasts a total of nine shows at area ovals in 10 days.

The Friday speedweek opener at Williams Grove will be the first of two series shows at the track in 2013 as the oval returns one week later on July 5 with the 25th annual Mitch Smith Memorial paying $10,000 to win a 30-lap feature event.
This week’s race will go 25-laps in distance and pay $5,000 to the winner.

The 2013 series will be just the fifth time in the history of the speedweek series that Williams Grove will host two shows during speedweek.

When the series began back in 1991, Steve Smith Sr. and Don Kreitz Jr. took Williams Grove wins.

In 1994 it was Smith Sr. and Fred Rahmer winning twice.

Brian Montieth and Daryn Pittman split shows in 2009.

And Logan Schuchart and Stevie Smith won a pair just last season.

Rahmer has more speedweek wins at Williams Grove than any other driver with four to his credit.

He has one win at the track this season and is the current Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint point leader.

This week’s program includes time trials as is the case with all speedweek programs.

The SpeedSTRS are also on the June 28 racing card.

The Williams Grove Saturday Series is in action at the track on June 29 and again on July 6 when the Firecracker 40 for super sportsman will be presented.
