“Dirt’s Monster Half Mile”
PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway presents a special Sunday edition of racing action with the Winged Super Sprints scheduled to make their first appearance of 2013. The winged warriors will battle in a 20 lap main event with the winner’s portion of the purse being $2,000. The sprint main event will also pay $250 to start.
Danny Holtgraver, Ed Lynch, Jr. and Jack Sodeman, Jr. scored the Sprint Car victories in 2012 and all are expected to be in competition this Sunday. Lynch, Jr. has 16 PPMS wins in open wheel action while Holtgraver has four. Eric Williams may just be the hottest driver on the Western PA circuit as he has scored wins at both Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park in the past month and will certainly contend for the win this weekend.
Several competitors who ran wingless last Saturday, Brandon Spithaler, Brandon and Brent Matus and Gary Rankin, will add the wings and make the necessary chassis adjustments needed to battle for this Sunday’s top prize. Brandon Matus was the highest finishing local competitor in the B.O.S.S. event as he finished sixth and this third generation driver will be looking for an even better finish this Sunday evening.
In addition to the winged warriors this Sunday evening’s racing action includes a complete program for the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, the Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns.
The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for this this week’s Sunday racing action open at 4:00PM with the first green flag waving promptly at 6:00PM.
Adult Grandstand Admission is $20.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $19.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $15.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise.
Pit Admission for this week’s event is $35.00.
Don’t forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of amusement park munchies like monster chicken wings, grilled chicken sandwiches and cotton candy at “fan friendly prices.”
