WoO STP Sprint Car Series Tackles Gerdau Magic City Showdown on Sunday, Aug. 18
Inside Line Promotions – MINOT, N.D. (July 30, 2013) – Seven different drivers have reached Victory Lane in as many World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events at Nodak Speedway.
The premier sprint car series returns to the 3/8-mile track on Sunday, Aug. 18, for the Magic City Showdown, which is the final leg of the Gerdau Northern Tour with Sleep Inn & Suites, Magic City Implement and Minot Tourism.
“The last time I was there we won,” championship standings leader Daryn Pittman said. “I’ve enjoyed it and run well there. I like the shape and speed of it.”
Terry McCarl won the inaugural event in 2006 before Pittman’s victory the following season. In 2008, Jason Meyers was victorious and Danny Lasoski picked up the win in 2009. Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky shared victories in 2010.
North Dakota native Donny Schatz, who was born in Minot, led all but the first lap to pick up his first victory at his home track last season in front of a packed grandstand.
“It’s a pretty nice facility,” Kerry Madsen said. “It’s Schatz’s home town so you want to go there and beat him.”

Also, spectators can upgrade any ticket to a pit pass for only $10 on race day.
