2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Tenth | 4148 points [498 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (July 5, 2022) – For the first time in his career as a full-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competitor, and for the first time ever in the Badger State, Jonestown, Pennsylvania’s Brock Zearfoss is a Series winner, doing so during night two of Cedar Lake Speedway’s Independence Day Spectacular on Saturday, July 2. Securing a $10,000 payday in the process, the “Jonestown Jet” earned his World of Outlaws triumph over Watertown, Connecticut’s David Gravel and three-time Series champion, Brad Sweet, railing the cushion in the closing laps to outrun each of his World of Outlaws foes.

Fourth-starting Zearfoss took command for the first time on lap 20, scooting around Brad Sweet after a lap 19 caution that saw three competitors within the top-five lose their positions due to flat tires; Zearfoss jumped from fifth to second as a result of tire misfortunes.

“I’m speechless,” an emotional Zearfoss said in Victory Lane at Cedar Lake Speedway. “Nobody really knows how hard this team has worked. They’ve never given up on me, even on the nights that I think they should’ve. It’s not easy out here at all. I’ve been in this sport a long time, but racing at all these new tracks with this Series is so damn challenging. You get your butt kicked every single night against the Outlaws. This shows how far our team has come. We’ve been getting a lot better, and I hope this is only the start.

“I’ve told myself plenty of times that I should be coming off the road and that I can’t do this anymore, but deep in my heart I know this is where I need to be. We’ve all worked so hard to get to this level, we belong here and I want to prove that. It’s been a long time coming for sure. This is amazing.”

Zearfoss is now a two-time winner against the Greatest Show On Dirt, scoring a first-ever Series victory during a Summer Nationals start at Williams Grove Speedway in 2017.
