Danny Dietrich dominates Weldon Sterner Memorial; Third Lincoln win of 2017
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, PA (May 1, 2017) – For the third time in 2017, Danny Dietrich is a main event winner at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, this time dominating the 14th Annual Weldon Sterner Memorial on Saturday, April 29, for a top prize equaling $6,900.
The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native started second on the feature grid, driving on to lead all 33, non-stop circuits, eventually crossing under the final checkers seven seconds ahead of second place running Alan Krimes. Dietrich now has a total of five top-five finishes during competition in the Pigeon Hills, currently on top of the Lincoln Speedway track championship standings.
“We have some stuff figured out right now. Hopefully this momentum keeps up and we can use it to our advantage when the Outlaws come to town in a few weeks,” Danny Dietrich explained. “I have a ton of people to thank, but mostly the guys who are with me every weekend. We are having a lot of fun right now. You always seem to race the best when you’re having fun.”
“Double-D” launched his recent weekend with a start against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, April 28. Dietrich finished fifth during the Arctic Cat All Star sanctioned Tommy Hinnershitz Memorial; his first top-five finish against the Tony Stewart-owned organization in 2017.
Unfortunately, Dietrich’s luck ran out on Sunday evening, April 30, during a visit to the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania; rejoining the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions for the annual Roy Morral Tribute. Dietrich was on his way to a top-five performance when disaster struck during the 25-lap main event; making contact with a competitor, sending the Gary Kauffman Racing entry hard into the inside retaining wall. All involved were unharmed.
