Jack Sodeman Jr. Will Honor Family in 2016
Will Launch Season at Mercer on April 2

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (February 22, 2016) – Second generation racer Jack Sodeman Jr. will honor his father, Jack Sodeman Sr., in 2016 with a throwback design commemorating his 1985 sprint car. The Sodeman family has been active in sprint car racing for nearly five decades, and will celebrate their 45th year of involvement during their upcoming campaign. Jack Sodeman Jr. will pilot the throwback ride on multiple occasions during the upcoming season, entering the altered Glassmere Fuel, Economy Tooling, PRS Transit, Townsend Gas & Oil, Inc., No. 23JR during all major Western Pennsylvania sprint car programs.
“Sprint car racing has been with me my entire life” Jack Sodeman Jr. explained, “My father passed his passion and love for the sport on to me, and I’ve been involved ever since. We’ll be celebrating 45 years of family involvement in 2016, so I felt it would be a cool idea to come up with some sort of throwback car to honor my dad and family. The design we came up with resembles his 1985 car.”
The North Jackson, Ohio, native will follow a schedule comprised of nearly 50 events in 2016, stretching between early April and mid-October. The defending Mercer Raceway Park 410ci champion will travel much of the Western Pennsylvania circuit, as well as make occasional visits to areas of Ohio. Jack Sodeman Jr. will make his 2016 debut during the Mercer Raceway Park season opener on Saturday, April 2.
“Our goal is to work as hard as we can to find victory lane” Sodeman explained, “This will be a very special season for all of us. I think we are all excited to show off the throwback look. It’s going to be a lot of fun to honor my dad this year. He was my childhood hero, and is still my hero.”
