Pittsburgh, PA (October 20, 2015) – Despite missing the 100-lap, $100,000-to-win, Optima Batteries Dirt Track World Championship presented by NAPA Auto Parts main event grid at Portsmouth Raceway Park by one position, finishing third during B-main competition with only the top two transferring to the weekend finale, “The Jet” Jared Miley still made the best of his trip south to Portsmouth, Ohio.

With the Dirt Track World Championship starting grid set according to passing points, only the top-16 drivers in points after heat race action were locked into Saturday night’s main event. Miley’s finishes during the double heat race format, seventh and third, did not accumulate enough points to reach the top-16, forcing the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native to race one of the three scheduled consolation races. The recently crowned ULMS Racing Series champion charged ahead from the fourth row to finish third in the second B-main, just one spot shy of competing for a potential six-digit payday.

Out of the 81 super late models entered for action, the top-26 drivers that did not qualify for Saturday night’s 100-lapper earned a starting position in the Jim Dunn Memorial/non-qualifiers race worth $3,000. After starting on the outside of row one and fading to seventh on the initial start, Miley worked back toward the front and finished second in the 30-lap program, following Chris Ferguson to the final checkers.

“It wasn’t a bad weekend for us” explained Jared Miley, “We put ourselves in a little bit of a hole after our heat races, but we recovered for a respectable finish during the non-qualifiers race. That was one of the toughest fields of cars you’ll see anywhere all year, so we can’t be too hard on ourselves. We get to race close to home this weekend on a track we know a lot about, so we’ll try to use that to our advantage.”

Jared Miley will return to competition this Thursday-Saturday, October 22-24, for the DIRTcar Roundup Steel City Stampede at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. The three-day program, beginning with open practice on Thursday evening, October 22, will feature all four of Lernerville Speedway’s weekly divisions, as well as a handful of other western Pennsylvania classes, all helping to officially close down the 2015 Lernerville Speedway season. Heat races for all divisions, including the super late models, will be contested on Friday, October 23, followed by main event action on Saturday, October 24. Miley, pilot of the Jared Miley Racing, Colussy Chevrolet, Octane Graphix, Brougher’s Machine Shop, Ireland’s Bait Shop of Elk County, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, DLB Metals, Schaeffer’s Racing Oil, #H1, is the 2010 Steel City Stampede super late model champion.
