Mother’s Day Weekend Action

PITTSBURGH, PA — Kick off your Mother’s Day weekend at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway this Saturday evening as we present the Spring Hoedown 20 for the Late Model Sportsman Division. A complete program for the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns will round out this Saturday’s racing action.

“This Saturday’s event for the Late Model Sportsman competitors is the first of five specials scheduled in 2013,” stated speedway owner Matt Miley. This week’s 20 lap feature event will reward the winner with as $700 payday. The Sportsman competitors will begin their evening with group time trials that will determine their heat race lineups. The top four finishers in each preliminary event will then redraw for their starting positions in the main event.

Thus far in 2013 the Late Model Sportsman Division has not had a repeat winner. Nick Kocuba, who lives just a short distance away from the speedway captured his first victory in more than one year on opening day while Brian Huchko scored the win on April 20th. Veteran Jeff Bronszewski scored his first checkered of the young season on April 27th and Bill Robertson continued the string of new winners last Saturday evening. Other competitors expected to be in action include Drew, Craig and Joey Koteles, Wayne Carbo and Joe Anthony.

Kyle Lukon placed in name in the PPMS history book last Saturday evening when he scored his first ever Super Late victory. The Duquesne University graduate has definitely looked strong in both Super Late and Pro-Late action in the first month of the 2013 season. Michael Norris has been the lone repeat winner in Diehl of Robinson Super Late Model competition and will be looking for victory Number Three this weekend. Tony Musolino has had two consecutive second place finishes and continues to “knock on the door” for his first ever PPMS Super Late Model win. Jared Miley, Lynn Geisler, Brandon Burgoon and Alex Ferree are also expected to challenge for this week’s victory.

Lukon also leads the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Model point standings and is determined to get his third victory in the division this weekend. Kyle’s sister Laura scored a solid sixth place finish in last week’s main event and is determined to return to the winner’s circle. Ron Hall looked very strong in last week’s main event as he piloted the JR Hall Excavating Rocket Chassis to a third place finish; could he get his first ever victory this weekend?

Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Model competitors are reminded that the RUSH Series management has decided to allow competitors to use the FT200 and FT400 until May 31, 2013 at all weekly and touring events. From May 31 forward the Crate Racin’ D21 & D55 will be the only allowable tires.
