Brent Marks earns back-to-back Hard Charger Awards, finishes eighth during Gettysburg Clash

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

MYERSTOWN, Pa. (July 23, 2018) – If one thing is for certain, Brent Marks knows how to pass race cars.

The Myerstown, Pa., native continued his 2018 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series campaign with a trio of starts during the recent week, two of which resulting in KSE Hard Charger Awards for advancing the most positions during main event competition.

Brent Marks kicked-off his recent week of World of Outlaws competition with the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday, July 17. After a fourth place finish during heat race action to solidify his spot in the main event, Marks drove on to score a 13th place finish during the 40-lap A-main, advancing two spots after starting 15th on the grid.

Marks’ first KSE Hard Charger Award of the weekend was accomplished at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown on Thursday, July 19. Forced to compete the evening’s Last Chance Showdown after missing a transfer position in the heat race, Marks went on to win the consolation event, padding that performance with a hard charge from 21st to finish eighth.

In almost identical fashion, Marks was forced to take a similar route during Summer Nationals preliminary/Morgan Cup action at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, July 20. The “Myerstown Missile” transferred through the evening’s Last Chance Showdown after missing a transfer spot in his heat race, only to rebound with a massive move from 24th to finish 14th.

The Summer Nationals finale at Williams Grove Speedway was cancelled due to wet weather.

“We pride in our ability to pass that many race cars, but I think we’d rather take the easy way out; start up front and finish up front,” Brent Marks said, driver of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19 sprint car. “We’ve been trying to nail down our qualifying effort. It takes time and laps. We’ll get there soon enough. For now, we’ll just keep working hard.”

Up next on the schedule, Brent Marks Racing will continue their second-ever season with the Greatest Show On Dirt with a trip to the Empire State, ready to make three starts in four days beginning with a midweek program at Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Wednesday, July 25. The New York road trip will continue on Friday and Sunday, July 27 & 29, with starts at Ransomville Speedway and Weedsport Speedway, respectively.

Marks will enter the New York road trip currently ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings, now with 16 top-ten finishes on the season and one victory; his first-ever Series victory was accomplished at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway in early June.
